Marianne Ruth | 8 Days Old

Meet little Marianne, the most alert newborn I’ve ever worked with. She was one of the calmest babies I’ve photographed, but she faught sleep tooth and nail, even after serval nursing sessions.

She did conk out for the briefest time in this comfy little wire basket. I took advantage and tried to get some variation for their gallery without moving her. I knew once I took her out that she’d wake up again, but I was able to capture some of the sweetest images from just this one pose.

Marianne made the most hilarious facial expressions!

I wanted to do some unposed mommy shots and just had her cradle her sweet, new baby and talk to her. Our babies grow so fast that I love to just freeze this one little moment.

Marianne’s grandma was able to fly in from out of state and join us for her newborn session.

If I can, I love creating black and white images during a newborn session. I asked dad to bring a black shirt and used my black v-flats as well as a black blanket on the bean bag. These images tend to be some of my all time favorites as a photographer. They are classic and timeless!
