What to Expect

I operate my business as a boutique photography studio, which means I am a low volume, high-service photographer. It means I take on a very limited number of sessions each month so that I can ensure dedicated attention to each client.

Digitals files are a wonderful, valueable thing, but I truly want my clients to have a physical, tangible product at the end of every session so I focus my services on creating one-of-a-kind pieces of art and heirloom products that will last generations.

Your Session

Your Crystelle Marie Photography experience will begin with a pre-session questionnaire and consultation to plan and design your portrait session. We can do this in-person over coffee, at my studio, or over the phone. We will discuss your vision for your shoot – locations, styling and what to wear – as well as your ideal end product – whether that be digitals, prints, canvases, albums, or a mixture of items.

Maternity, Child, Family Portrait sessions are held either in my studio or at a location of your choice and last about 1-2 hours. We can choose multiple locations and I allow as many outfit changes as you’d like within that time frame. The best time of day for a session is typically the last two hours before sunset and I try to schedule my sessions accordingly.

Newborn sessions within the first 14 days of baby’s life are held in my home studio in East Medford, Oregon. Newborn sessions typically last up to 3 hours.

The most important part of your session to me is that you and your family have FUN and enjoy the process. I HATE the words smile and cheese and have a bag of tricks up my sleeves that will get your kids laughing and smiling without ever asking them to do so.

“We are going to a family photo session.” That sounds boring, right? But what about, “We are going to play and have fun and run and skip!” Your kids will be ecstatic! I want to capture the natural interaction between your family, so if that means putting my camera down for awhile and telling a silly joke, playing hide and seek, or blowing some bubbles, then that’s what I’ll do.

Hair & Make Up

I know that preparing for a session can be stressful, so I highly encourage moms to have their hair and/or make up professionally done and can recommend some wonderful ladies that will help you get a picture-perfect look.

Session Premiere

The Session Premiere is what I call your viewing/ordering session. I want this to be a special time where I bring your images to life.  I will create a custom slide show set to music and bring a delicious dessert. We’ll sit back, relax and enjoy the show! After we've watched it two - probably more - times and you've dried your eyes - because you WILL tear up - I'll help you decide which images you can't live without and the collection and products that will best suit your needs.

We will schedule your Session Premiere for about 2-3 weeks following your portrait session. I can set up our own mini theater right in the comfort of your home, connecting to your TV, or we can meet in my studio. I will then help you sort through your images and can even show you how one, or a grouping of images, will look like on your walls.

Have you ever struggled with putting pictures on the wall because you are a) too indecisive, b) have either small or very large walls to work with, c) don't know how to group pictures in a pleasing manner or d) all of the above? This is where I enter with my super hero cape and save the day! I use an iPad app (check out this post)  where I can plug in a picture of YOUR wall and then show you exactly how your images will look in different sizes and groupings, either as prints, standouts, canvases or framed prints. Problem solved!

I offer only high-quality products and will bring samples with me so you can touch, feel and see how your own products will look like. My canvases are giclee printed and 100+ years archival certified and my prints come mounted on either matboard (for 11x14's and smaller) and styrene for larger prints. I am an Organic Bloom frame vendor and I also offer modern and classic framing options as well.

I try to keep up with the latest technology and offer several digital products for your session images, including custom smartphone albums that allow you to access your images with a touch of a button on your phone or iPad. Several my collections contain digital files and come with companion, web-ready files so you can share your images easily to social media and email and they will look the best they possibly can.

I began honing my photography skills over 7 years ago and opened CMP in early 2013, focusing on newborns and families.

I have logged countless hours every year in continual eduction, both online & through in-person workshops.

I am an expert baby shusher and know how to beautifully photograph even the most difficult babies.

Relax knowing you've hired an experienced professional that will handle your newborn with expertise and loving care!
My Experience
I believe in keeping the focus on baby - not on props - and strive to keep my images clean, classic, and timeless.

My ultimate goal is to not only offer the digital files that have come to be expected with modern photography, but also help you create artwork you can enjoy everyday, for years to come.
