I’ve been slowly collecting vintage nightgowns and other white and lacy tops and dresses. I want to offer my clients clothing options for their maternity and newborn sessions held in my studio.
I LOVE white, creams and lace and love how they photograph in my all white studio.
I started my collection with my own maternity gowns that I purchased from Sew Trendy Accessories on Etsy. These were quite spendy so I also search local thrift shops, Ebay and Etsy. My husband even knows to check out our local St Vincent de Paul’s or Salvation Army for gowns I might like for the studio.
I also check my favorite stores, like Maurice’s, for tops and dresses that might be used for maternity. I actually used a regular stretch lace top from Maurice’s for my own maternity session with my very talented friend, Lahna of Photography by Lahna Marie, and actually still wear it post baby as it’s a normal top.

I love finding pretty dresses for my daughter and expensing them as “props” for my studio.
And how cute are these gorgeous newborn girl outfits from Mia Joy Studios?
This is just a tiny peek into my ever growing collection of clothing props. I’m purchasing some IKEA shelves this weekend and hope to have my studio more complete in the next few weeks. Most of my collection is stored away in bins or in my daughter’s closet and I cannot wait to get them back into the studio and on display.
