How beautiful is this mommy-to-be? Catherine was already 38 weeks at her maternity session and she was still active and carrying her precious daughter around. She ended up carrying her baby boy for another 19 days after this session! For someone who’s longest pregnancy was 11 days early, I simply cannot imagine being pregnant for so long! Catherine went on to have an unexpected, but incredible birth story and gave birth to a healthy and robust boy of 10lbs, 5 oz and 22 inches long.
Catherine requested a lavender field. While there are some lavender farms in the Applegate Valley, I found the OSU Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center not only had a lavender garden, but also a small vineyard and extensive gardens full of blooming flowers – all within Medford and an easy walk around the gardens. The gardens may not be ideal in the winter, but for a summer maternity session, this location was perfect. We missed the peak time for lavender blossoms by about 2 weeks, but there were still plenty of pretty purple blossom and the smell was heavenly!
Soon-to-be-big-sister, Layla, was just 19 months during the maternity session and was much more interested in smelling flowers then posing for a photo, but I still managed to capture a few precious moments with her and mom.
